Prior to the Expanded Theme Group meeting, we also invite you to attend the launching of the “Positive Talks” Project;a joint project to empower and support women and men living with HIV (PLHIV) as meaningful partners in China’s multi sector response to AIDS will be launched on Wednesday, 28 November 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Large Conference Room of the UN compound.

The 3-year ‘Positive Talks’ project aims to train and support a core group of 35 PLHIV to be “positive trainers” and give “positive talks” in various HIV-related advocacy, prevention, care and awareness activities across China. The direct involvement of Positive Trainers seeks to increase people’s awareness of their vulnerability to HIV, change individual and social perception and attitudes towards HIV and PLHIV and help reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination.

‘Positive Talks’ is an activity of Marie Stopes International China (MSIC), jointly supported and funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and implemented by the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE).
