1st of December, 2007 is the 20th World AIDS Day, with the theme of “leadership” and the slogan of “Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise.” Although global efforts to fight against AIDS have been made, the epidemic is still paving its way: in 2006, globally there are around 110,000 newly infected; between 2006 and 2007, there are 3000 newly infected all over China. The experience demonstrates that besides the strong leadership of the government, it is very effective to have the fully participations of civil society organizations, individuals and the business sectors into China’s HIV response.
In order to mobilize more participation from the civil society organizations, UNAIDS and CHAIN are setting up the special column for World AIDS Day of 2007 (www.chain.net.cn/english/World_AIDS_Day/). It will be working as a platform for information sharing and coordination, for wider coverage from the media, as well as a platform where civil society organizations can show the plans and more resources are mobilized to support these plans.
Please fill in the Registration Form in the attached and send back to us as soon as possible. We will try all of our best to mobilize the resource and support the activities.
