From 26 April 2008, the Jilin City’s Global Fund Aids Project Office and Jilin City’s Rainbow Heart Guanai Home jointly organized the “Fellowship Discussion on the Percentage of MSM Population with Aids Knowledge and Advocating for 100% Condoms Used” in order to promote the knowledge on Aids for all; promoting 100% condom used in the MSM population; and strengthening Aids awareness in the target population to facilitate the development of Global Fund Aids Project. A total of 152 people from Jilin’s Communicable Disease Centre, Jilin’s Rainbow Heart Guanai Home and Jilin’s MSM population, attended this fellowship meeting.
This fellowship was hosted by the chairperson, Mr Chang, of Jilin’s Rainbow Heart. Mr Lian Guangchun, secretary of Jilin’s Association of Aids/STD Prevention and Control, pointed out that: Firstly, this was to allow everyone to grasp and gain further understanding of the Aids prevention knowledge through a entertaining environment; Secondly, the Communicable Disease Centre could carry out health checks for the usually busy MSM population; Thirdly, there would be excellent services provided for the MSM population. At the beginning of the fellowship, Mr Chang gave an opening speech and allowed the fellowship to carry out under a light-hearted and pleasant environment. The fellowship comprised of lectures on Aids prevention and knowledge as well as the advocacy for condom used. The main aim was to unite the MSM population to combat Aids together and to allow the MSM population to live better in a healthier and harmonious society. The staff prepared a wealth of group activities for everyone to work towards a common goal and allow more friends and acquaintances to be united in their concern about health and fight against Aids in a room filled with chatter and laughter.
The exciting fellowship programmes and Aids information campaign let everyone increased their own Aids prevention knowledge in a pleasant environment. It showcased that the Jilin City’s MSM population as multi-talented and gave more people in the MSM population a chance to willingly attend such charitable activities. The attendees gave high acknowledgment for this training and evaluated it highly. They gave feedback and at the same time hoped to have more of such training activities to increase their cognitive awareness towards Aids. This fellowship met its expected aim and effect in helping the Jilin City to develop further in the area of comprehensive Aids prevention and control.
