Foreign educator testing positive for HIV is deported
  Guizhou City News

  [refer to Chinese page]

April 11th-- According to the information released by the Guizhou Quarantine and Inspection Department yesterday, a foreigner tested positive for HIV infection during an infectious disease test conducted by the Guizhou International Travel Health and Fitness Centre.  Subsequently, the Public Security Department was enlisted to help with the supervised departure.

As understood, this foreigner was an English teacher hired by a school in Guizhou Province.  When the Guizhou International Travel Health and Fitness Centre conducted the infectious disease testing, his initial serologic test was positive for HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) antibodies.  After repeat testing, Guizhou Province’s Centre for Disease Control confirmed the test results given by the laboratory.  He was confirmed, with positive HIV-1 antibodies, as a HIV-infected person.

At present, this foreign teacher has been deported under the Guizhou Quarantine and Inspection Department and the Public Security Department.
