Under the support of Beijing Association of STD/HIV Prevention & Control and Chaoyang District Preventive Medicine, the Nihao Volunteer Net, Chaoyang Chinese AIDS Intervention Working Group and Jingcheng Rainbow Volunteer Work Station set up the “Piggy Bank Project.” The objective of this project is to raise funds to help those with HIV infection when they need emergency treatment and care. If HIV sufferers have insufficient cash during treatment, they can apply for financial aid through Nihao Volunteer Net and Beijing Association of STD/HIV Prevention & Control. The processing party will assess the situation and pay part of the treatment fees through the Piggy Bank.
On 9 April 2008, the Chaoyang District Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Beijing Wanyi Department Store Private Limited, and Guilin Emulsion Factory separately banked in $3,500 into the Piggy Bank Savings Fund. The Wanyi Department Store’s manager expressed that they will make deposits to the savings fund every season, as part of their corporate social responsibility policy, and to support more people to access timely treatment. The funds deposited by Wanyi Department Store were raised by the “Care for Women-Stay Away from AIDS: Charity Auction” held on International Women’s Day, March 8th 2008.
