Wasting syndrome: Condition characterized by involuntary weight loss of more than 10 percent of the baseline body weight with either chronic diarrhea or chronic weakness and fever for over 30 days, when these conditions cannot be explained by any other illness other than an HIV infection.

 

White blood cells: Cells that protect the body against foreign organisms that are disease producing. Also called leukocytes, they are part of the immune system.
