  Founded in December 2003, Fuyang AIDS Orphan Salvation Association (AOS) is a non-governmental organization, officially registered with the Health Bureau and the Civil Affairs Bureau of Fuyang city, Anhui province (registration number: 0213). Zhangying is the founder and director of AOS. She won “Chinese National Society on Public Welfare Award” in 2005, “one of the most influential people of China in the year 2005”, “China Annual Yugong Award” in 2006, “The 11th China Youth Wusi Award”, “Fuyang City on Public Welfare Award” in 2007 etc other important awards. The mission of AOS is care for children affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty with the best way. Since its inception, under the guidance and leadership of Zhangying, AOS paertners with organization’s both local and abroad (for instance, Ministry of Health in China, Tshinghua University, LiNing Foundation, UNESCO, the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center, Give2Asia, Johnson&Johnson…). At present, AOS has rescued about 500 children affected by HIV/AIDS, most of them are orphans, and 20of them are infected children. These children come from over 350 separate families, over 40 different villages. Most of their parents are relatives are infected people, and received help from AOS. The number of directly beneficiaries is more than 4,000. The work of AOS won approval from governmental department and the society.

  On December 1st, 2006, Premier Wen Jiabao, and Vice-premier Wu Yi met with 8 AOS children at Zhong Nanhai, and wrote calligraphy for children “strong, efforts, struggle, upward”. The documentary <The Blood of Yingzhou District> won the Oscar Award for “Best Short Documentary”. This documentary truly reflected the work of AOS and the change of AOS children. The Central Television, Phoenix Cable TV, People’s Daily etc media reported the rescue work of AOS. AOS is becoming an influential organization in China.

 

Project working fields of AOS

    • Provide basic living help for children affected by HIV/AIDS.
    • Help infected children with treatment, living, nutrition etc.
    • AOS build the Activity Center at the community, help children affected by HIV/AIDS with eliminating psychological barriers, and received self-confidence through “Happy Weekend Party”.
    • Eliminate social discrimination, cultivate people help each other through activities like AIDS promotion, and provide happy environment for children.
    • Help children with completing education (from primary school to college) and decrease the rate of dropping out of school.
    • Provide vocational education to children who graduated from middle school, make them self-improvement, self-confidence, and to be rid of AIDS’ influence.
    • Organize infected people to exchange the experience of treatment, and help them with self-help.
    • Organize raise awareness events in colleges.
    • Association capacity building, operational ways of standard, improve the influence of AOS.

    • Volunteers send
    • Food, clothes, and other basic necessities of life
